SUNDAYS ARE FOR…
Sundays are for…Many things. Often times for after parties, often times for no parties. Sundays can be the icing on the cake of a long weekend, and other times the trough before the massive wave called Monday that rolls over you. In either scenario there is a wealth of music awaiting your minds and ears to make your Sundays better. As with Delayed and our love of curation, we’d like to extend our programming and expertise into another realm, dedicated to that of downtempo, electronica, ambient and everything in between. The caveat? Only quality not quantity, and don’t hold us to genre. How does this work you ask?
Starting today and once a month onwards, we’ll be posting a simple Bandcamp list of 10 tracks that we believe fit our spirit of Sundays are for series. Now, these aren’t going to be all new releases, nor are they all going to be old, but in the spirit of our Sundays, which seem to be always changing, a mix is guaranteed. Sundays are for many things, and having the right music makes them all better.
This morning finds us at the start of a new year, with a bit of a cold snap here in Brooklyn. The air is frigid with a stillness and freshness that can only be found in the winter months. Our guest mix for the time comes from Paduan, and exudes a warmth that is very, very welcome.
January finds myself with a renewed focus on music to combat the pressures and tensions of the world today. The peace I feel when listening through mixes, and releases is second to none and I’m always so appreciative of that fact.
Rain falls here in Brooklyn as we arrive on the last Sunday of 2024.To mark this occasion and the final guest mix of the year, is none other than Parallel Perception founder, Yoel Simoni aka Paragon.
This Sunday marks the last of my contributions for 2024. As the year draws to a close, there’s been a sense of reflection for the months past. Each mix has acted as a meaningful creative outlet and I’ve had so many personal feelings, moments, and more tied to them.
Wonderfully smooth, and gentle, our guest mix from Darris Hopper provides auditory relief through the many shades of ambient music.
It seems many things are changing here in brooklyn, and across the us. Challenging times ahead and I’m certainly feeling apprehension and uncertainty. That all being said, it is a great feeling to live in such a city that provides strength and inspiration.
Today’s mix looks towards marine eyes, and her wonderful selections based primarily on fellow women artists.
Fall is quickly approaching on the horizon, the leaves are starting their colorful journey as a chill grips the air at night. I love this time of year, as I walk through Brooklyn seeing all the changes certainly makes one stop and appreciate how beautiful this city can be.
Combating the cooling temperature and falling leaves, we look to DOC as his mix for today brings only the warmest of ambient sounds via a live recording from his set at Bar Theo in April.
Life is a journey, not a destination. This phrase keeps echoing in my head as I write the description for today’s mix. September is a special month in the Sundays series, as we enter the fifth year of its existence.
